Kenan “Ken” Urker — the 34-year-old on-and-off partner of reality star Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the father of her baby daughter — was found dead at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday, October 1, his 34th birthday. The Ken Urker death is being investigated by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office as an apparent drug overdose, though officials stress no official cause of death has yet been confirmed. Deputies responded to a welfare check around 6:15 p.m. and found Urker lifeless in his bed, with what appeared to be drug paraphernalia nearby.

FAKTA: Key facts

  • Who: Kenan “Ken” Urker, 34, the on-and-off partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the father of her one-year-old daughter, Aurora Raina Urker.
  • Where and when: Found dead on Thursday, October 1, 2026 — his 34th birthday — at his home in Raceland, Louisiana (Lafourche Parish).
  • Discovery: A welfare check was called by Blanchard’s sister-in-law Anita Blanchard after Urker missed work and did not answer his phone. His brother Dylan Blanchard saw him unresponsive through the bedroom window; responding officers entered through the window and found him cold to the touch.
  • At the scene: Syringes, a spoon and a brown powdery substance in the bathroom; a syringe, two shot glasses and a handgun on the nightstand. Police confirmed there was no evidence of a gunshot wound.
  • Official status: The death investigation is ongoing; an autopsy was performed on Friday, October 2, with results pending. Police say they have found “no evidence” of foul play so far but are not ruling anything out.
  • Blanchard’s account: She told People she believes Urker died of an apparent overdose: “I don’t know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately.”

Welfare check after an unanswered birthday text

Urker’s family grew concerned when Blanchard’s “happy birthday” text went unanswered and he failed to show up for work. According to the sheriff’s office, sister-in-law Anita Blanchard requested the welfare check after Urker did not answer his phone and a family friend had tried his door for over an hour. Dylan Blanchard spotted Urker lying unresponsive on his bed through the bedroom window, and responding officers entered through the window to reach him. He was cold to the touch and pronounced dead at the scene.

Anita and Dylan Blanchard had been with Urker at church the day before, where he reportedly spoke about feeling depressed and upset, according to local reporting. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Urker had made suicide threats before he died — a detail investigators have not publicly confirmed.

Ken Urker death: overdose suspected as investigation continues

Deputies found drug paraphernalia in the bathroom next to a brown powdery substance, along with another syringe, two shot glasses and a handgun on the nightstand beside the bed. A blood-stained paper towel was found placed on Urker’s left arm, per reporting on the sheriff’s findings. The sheriff’s office told TMZ: “We responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”

Police later told People they had found “no evidence” of foul play but added: “As long as the investigation is ongoing, of course, we cannot rule it out.” An autopsy was performed on Friday, October 2, and toxicology results are still pending. Blanchard said investigators had not told her what substance may have been involved.

Blanchard blames “relentless cyberbullying”

Speaking exclusively to People, the 35-year-old Blanchard said she was in disbelief: “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.” She remembered Urker as “an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,” calling him her “forever soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”

Blanchard said Urker had endured “an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit,” adding: “The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure. I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment.” She vowed that their daughter Aurora would grow up knowing how deeply her father loved her, and asked for privacy and compassion for both families as they grieve.

A relationship that began behind bars

Blanchard and Urker first connected in 2017, when he wrote to her in prison after watching the documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest. He proposed during a prison visit in October 2018, but the engagement was called off the following year. Blanchard later married Ryan Scott Anderson in July 2022; that marriage ended in 2024, after which she reconnected with Urker. Their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, was born on December 28, 2024 — prenatal paternity-test results confirmed Urker as her biological father.

Blanchard herself became a national figure after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2015 killing of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, whom she said had subjected her to years of medical abuse. She served eight years of a 10-year sentence and was released from prison on December 28, 2023. Read the full story on Watan News’ main domain.

Conclusion

The sudden death of Ken Urker on his 34th birthday has left Blanchard and their young family grieving in the public eye, even as investigators work to establish an official cause of death. While Blanchard believes an apparent overdose took his life, the sheriff’s office says the inquiry remains open and toxicology results are pending. Her plea against online cruelty has added a wider dimension to the tragedy — a reminder of the human cost of relentless public scrutiny.
